Goa is set to introduce the Fast-Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) after Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved its roll out. The programme will allow pre-verified passengers to use biometric e-gates at the airport and complete immigration checks in less than 30 seconds. The decision came after Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi. They discussed ways to make travel to Goa easier, improve international air connectivity and speed up tourism development. The Goa government has also asked the Centre to consider visa-on-arrival facilities which is a digital nomad visa and more international flights. These steps are aimed at making Goa a more attractive and competitive global tourism destination. The system is already being used at several major airports in India and is expected to make travel easier and faster for passengers.
The programme will be useful for many travellers, including the Goan diaspora, seafarers, students and professionals travelling abroad. The Goa government hopes that quicker immigration will encourage more people both from India and abroad to use Goa as their entry and exit point. The state also expects the programme to expand in the future and allow foreign nationals to use the fast track immigration facility.
