Darjeeling and Sikkim boasts some of the finest and glorious tourist destination in the world. It takes around 4 hours drive to reach Gangtok from Darjeeling. Both the destinations enjoy wonderful connectivity via road due to its close proximity. There are multiple routes available to reach Gangtok from Darjeeling via Kalimpong along the Teesta River or the NH 31A. Even you can opt for Darjeeling to Jorethang which takes about 1 and half hours, and then move towards either Pelling (about 2 hours) which then leads to Gangtok via Ravangla. Many tourists make a combined visit to all these places for few days since all are adjacent to each other.

The nearest railway station New Jalpaiguri and nearest Airport Bagdogra is approximately 5 hours journey from Gangtok and 3 hours from Darjeeling. Private and shared cabs are available from all these places, Sikkim National Transport offers regular bus services from Siliguri to Gangtok. You can also reach Darjeeling via bus. There is also helicopter service between Bagdogra and Gangtok taking only 35-minute flight one way.
