On July 6 2026, the Tourism Authority of Thailand reminded foreign visitors to carry enough money when arriving in Thailand. This is not a new rule. It is simply a reminder to help travelers avoid problems during immigration checks. Children under 12 years old do not need to meet this requirement. When travelers arrive in Thailand, immigration officers may ask them to show that you have enough money for your stay. Travelers can show cash in Thai baht, money in another currency or documents that prove you have access to enough funds. The final decision to allow someone into Thailand is always made by the immigration officer at the airport or border. Even if traveller have a visa, an e-Visa, visa-free entry or a visa on arrival, they may still be refused entry if you do not meet all the required entry rules.
