The Uttar Pradesh government has started a new campaign called “Visit My State” Uttar Pradesh to encourage young people to promote their own cities and hometowns. Under this campaign, Uttar Pradesh Tourism has invited young content creators to make a 60 second reel showing what makes their city special. The reel can be made in Hindi or English and should not be longer than 60 seconds. At the end, participants must say, ‘Visit My State Uttar Pradesh’. Their face and voice should be clearly visible and audible. The video must be recorded outdoors with a famous landmark or a recognisable tourist place in the background. The idea is to let local people tell the stories of their own places in a simple and personal way.
UP State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) chairman Amrit Abhijat said, "The campaign places residents at the centre of destination storytelling. A 60 second reel can bring together a place, a personal voice and a local experience. A popular landmark can be presented through a fresh perspective, while local destinations can gain wider visibility."
By using short videos and social media, the government hopes to involve more young people in tourism promotion. It also wants them to look at their own cities in a new way and share the places, people, food and traditions that make their hometowns special.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that, "Uttar Pradesh's cultural identity is reflected across every district, city and village. It can be experienced at celebrated destinations as well as through local food, crafts, festivals, traditions, people and stories. Through 'Visit My State', we want Gen Z and other young residents to become cultural ambassadors and present their cities in their own words. Their voice can help travellers discover Uttar Pradesh in a more personal and engaging way."
