The Living Root Bridges

Amongst the many wonders that Meghalaya has to offer, one such is the living root bridges. These bridges are originally crafted by the Khasi and Jaintia tribes. The most famous root bridge is the Double Decker Root Bridge, located in the Nongriat village, which requires a trek of over 30,000 steps. These bridges are not mere tourist attraction but showcase a beautiful example of how the tribes of Meghalaya have co-existed with nature for centuries and created a plethora sustainable architecture.
