West Bengal Tourism to Get Rs 500 Crore Boost : CM Suvendu

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday, September 4^th 2026, announced an investment of 500 crore to improve tourism infrastructure across the state during the 2026–27 financial year. He made the announcement at an event held at the Dhana Dhanya Auditorium in Kolkata. During the programme the state government also launched a new tourism logo and theme “West Bengal, Where India feels different”.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari was accompanied by Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh and Industry Minister Tapas Roy at the event. The Chief Minister said that several tourist lodges across the state would be renovated. These include lodges in Bakkhali, Terai, Dooars, Lataguri, Darjeeling, Alipurduar and Chalsa, among other places.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said, "Can't imagine how the biodiversity of the Sunderbans could not be protected by the earlier regime. We will plant 20 lakh mangroves to protect the marshland and save the area from natural disasters and showcase Sunderbans as a unique destination for tourists while saving the rich biodiversity." He also added, "Other states left us behind in the number of inbound tourists, but not any more. With the help of the Centre, Bengal will regain its pre-eminence in tourism."
