Uzbekistan Opens Its Doors to Indian Travellers With 30-Day Visa-Free Entry

Indian passport holders will soon be able to visit Uzbekistan without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. The new rule is expected to make it easier for Indians to travel to the country for tourism and short visits. The announcement was made by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tashkent on August 30 2026, during PM’s two day state visit to Uzbekistan. The move is aimed at improving tourism, trade and cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan. However, as the announcement is recent, travellers should check the official implementation date and entry rules before booking their trip. It is also important to check passport validity and any other conditions that may apply.

Explore Tashkent : Visitors can start their trip in Tashkent which is the capital of Uzbekistan. The city is a mix of modern buildings, Soviet era architecture and historic Islamic sites. One of the best things to see is the Tashkent Metro. Many of its stations have beautiful mosaics, chandeliers, sculptures and colourful designs.

Visit Registan Square in Samarkand : Samarkand is one of the most famous cities in Uzbekistan and was once an important stop on the Silk Road. Registan Square is its biggest attraction. The area is surrounded by grand historic buildings and is a great place to experience the city's architecture and history. Visitors can also visit the Bibi-Khanum Mosque, Shahi Zinda and Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum while exploring Samarkand.

Try Uzbek Food : Food is another reason to visit Uzbekistan. Visitors can try the country's famous rice dish. Visitors can also try manti, steamed dumplings filled with meat or pumpkin, and shashlik, which is grilled meat served on skewers.

Explore the Fergana Valley : For travellers looking for something beyond the usual tourist spots, the Fergana Valley is worth visiting. In Rishtan, you can see Uzbekistan's famous pottery and ceramic traditions. In Margilan, the Yodgorlik Silk Factory offers visitors a chance to see how traditional silk is made.
