The Country Sent Most Tourists to India

According to a report by Rediff, the top destinations for outbound Indians were the United Arab Emirates (27.6%), Saudi Arabia (11.4%), Thailand (5.6%), US (4.9%) and Singapore (4.8%). However, if you are asking about foreign tourists visiting in India, then according to Statista, the United States of America was the largest source of foreign tourists arriving to India in 2022 with over 1,373 thousand visitors, followed by Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.

Foreign exchange earnings from tourism in India are inching towards the pre-pandemic levels, although the country is yet to record similar highs in the number of visiting tourists.

The latest data for October 2023, released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), shows that the number of foreign tourists arriving in India has shrunk by 14.1 percent compared to October 2019 when there were 0.9 million visitors.

According to data released by the ministry of tourism for October 2023, Bangladesh was the largest source of foreign tourists, accounting for 21.4 percent of all arrivals.
