Uri selfie point is now popular among tourists

The ‘India selfie point’, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, has become a popular attraction for tourists. This unique spot offers visitors a chance to capture the breathtaking beauty of Uri’s remote border region while enjoying a panoramic view of the Jhelum River. The selfie point, strategically positioned along National Highway-44. This remarkable site, also known as the INDIA selfie point, not only showcases the natural splendor of this region, but also fosters a sense of nationalism among visitors, creating a unique and engaging environment.

It was unveiled to the public around Republic Day last year and has been gifted by acclaimed artist Rouble Nagi who is also a daughter of a retired Army officer. The structure serves as a reminder of the growing sense of patriotism in the valley and contributes to the overall tourist experience. Rouble Nagi, the artistic mind behind this creation, sees sculpting the name of the nation through her art installation as a tribute to the sacrifices made for India’s freedom. She is known for her remarkable work in sculptures, art installations, and paintings.

While urging people to include URI as a part of their tourist destinations, Rouble Nagi focused on the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made for freedom. Her impact extends beyond the INDIA selfie point, as she played a pivotal role in establishing selfie points in various locations across Kashmir, including the revamped Polo View Market, Rajbagh, and Dal Lake.
