Phu Quoc, also known as the "Pearl Island" situated in South Vietnam, is the largest island in the country, lying off the coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand, renowned for it’s white-sand beaches and resorts, along the palm-lined southwest coast. This pearl island has a variety of beautiful beaches stretching from the North to the South. Hon Thom or Pineapple Island is connected to the Phu Quoc mainland by a spectacular eight-kilometer cable car ride, which lasts about 15 minutes one way, one of the longest in the world. The Sun World Cable Car has large windows allowing one to admire the fishing boats, forested islands, and the sweeping turquoise sea far below.
Phu Quoc is perhaps most famous for its endless coastline of white sand beaches, but the diversity of experiences possible on the island makes it an ideal vacation destination. Phu Quoc is traditionally known for its fish sauce and black pepper products. The rich waters surrounding Phu Quoc are an important source of livelihood for fishing families on the island. Many fishermen catch anchovies that are carefully processed into the island’s famous fish sauce.
