Pokhara is the hub of adventure. Pokhara is the initial / final point for most of the treks including the Annapurna Circuit and the Jomsom Trek. The most popular destination among them is Sarangkot at an elevation of 1592 meters. Pokhara is a place of remarkable natural beauty. It is home to thick forests, gushing rivers and emerald lakes. The magnificent views of the Himalayas are the background of this place. Pokhara is part of an ancient trade route extending between India and Tibet. Mule trains can be seen camped on the outskirts of the town, bringing goods to trade from remote regions. Pokhara is one of the richest cultural bowls in the kingdom. People of different tribes, races, castes and creeds have converted it into their homeland. The lifestyles of these people in aggregate reflect the cultural significance of the town. This is the land of the Magars and Gurungs, hardworking farmers and valorous warriors popularly known as Gurkha soldiers. Kaski fort atop a hill to the west of Pokhara and the view of the Himalaya seen from this point is superb. Kahundanda, Naudanda, Ghandrung, Ghorepani, and Ghalchok are other favorite destinations around Pokhara. Bandipur is an ancient town of charming atmosphere. It is situated on a ridge top south of Dumre which lies 135 kilometers on the Kathmandu - Pokhara highway. It retains its age old cultural traditions and has its temples, shrines, holy caves and fine architecture.

Airways - The Airport is situated in the middle of town with flights to Kathmandu, Jomsom, Manang, Bhairahawa and Bhadrapur. Helicopters to Manang and Jomsom are also available for charter. Everest Air offers a mountain flight from Pokhara that takes you on an aerial sightseeing tour of the western Himalaya.
Railways - Nepal has railway connections with its neighboring country, India. Two stretches of railway are Raxaul (India) to Amlekhganj (Nepal) and the other is Raxaul (India) to Janakpur (Nepal). Buses are available for Kathmandu from Janakpur and Amlekhganj. All the bordering towns of Indo - Nepal are served by Indian Railway system.
Roadways – It is well connected with roads to different towns of Nepal. Roads are good and have developed in the last few years. It is approximately 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu.
