Port Blair - the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Island serves as the gateway to the picturesque exotic island of Andaman and Nicobar comprising some of the finest sea beach attractions in India.
Home to one of the major landmarks – the historic Cellular Jail, popularly known as Kaala Pani and the second most enthralling is an overnight stay at the Havelock Island. Other small islands are also famous as tourist destinations like Corbyn's Cove, Wandoor, Ross Island, Viper Island etc. Anthropological Museum, Marine Museum, and the Mini Zoo provide exciting marine experience in Port Blair in Andaman Islands. If you are excited about beach visit and take a swim on either at Corbyn's Cove, Jolly Buoy, or any one of other safe beaches. Ferries are available which takes ride across the various segments of the island. Ross Island is a popular bird-watcher's paradise especially in the early morning. The months of October to March are the best time to visit Port Blair or Andaman Island for tourists. During this time the temperature varies between 15 degree Celsius and 30 degree Celsius and the winters are mild and are an ideal opportunity for sightseeing, water sports, beach activities and exploring the other attractions. The time is also perfect for bird watching at Chiriya Tapu. March to May are summer months when the weather is hot and dry. Numerous accommodations of various types are available for tourist to stay and schedule their itinerary for covering the entire place.
Port Blair is well connected by both air and sea with flights travelling daily from Chennai, Kolkata, Vishakapatnam, New Delhi and Hyderabad. All flights bound to Andaman and Nicobar Islands land at the Veer Savarkar International Airport and it takes roughly two hours to reach the destination. Andaman is connected to Kolkata, Chennai, and Vishakhapatnam by sea which takes approximately 3 to 4 days.
