Zuluk

Zuluk, a rare and relatively unexplored tourist destination in East Sikkim is an undisturbed village nestled in the majestic hills of East Himalayas. A sparsely populated offbeat destination which also offers higher altitude tourist destinations of Nathang Valley, Kupup and Tsomgo lake. Located at a height of around 10,100 feet above sea level and exploring new dimensions of nature and solitude through the less travelled road towards Zuluk is magical. 

The greatest attraction of Zuluk lies in watching the sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjungha and its allied peaks from Thambi View Point (around 14 kms away) at 11,200 feet. Tourists can also cover Padamchen, Lungthung, Nathang, Kupup Lake, Menmechu Lake, Tukla Valley and all allied spots in the Silk Route circuit in day trips. High diversity of Himalayan fauna is prominent in Zuluk. The place also shelters variety of birds like Monal Pheasant, Blood Pheasant, Khaleez Pheasant, Snow Pheasant and others. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of Himalayan Weasel or A Martin also. Sighting of Red Panda, wild dog and deer in the high hills have also been recorded. 

Best time to visit would be during the month of January to April for the freezing snow either way its an amazing experience for those who looks for some extravagant feel. A visit to the place during peak season would be expensive and alternative option would be during March and September which remains relatively affordable. Kalimpong and Gangtok (approximately 4 hours journey) provides the easiest accessibility to Zuluk. At first you have to reach Rongpo, the entry point of Sikkim, if you are travelling from Darjeeling, Pelling or NJP / Bagdogra. From here a less trodden route will take you to Dzuluk through Rorathang. Zuluk offers multiple varied budget homestays for tourists. In Zuluk you would find comfortable nice, clean and comfortable homestays, and food is home-cooked, nice and warm.
