Tsomgo Lake, commonly known as Changu Lake is a glacial lake in Sikkim and located at an altitude of 12,310 feet is one of the most popular tourist site to be visited from Gangtok. It's takes about 2 hours to reach Tsomgo Lake in Sikkim by car from Gangtok town and on the steep route known as Jawaharlal Nehru Road which leads all the way to Nathula Pass. The lake is filled with water of melting snow coming from the surrounding mountains. Another well known tourist attraction Nathu La (pass) to China is only 16 kms uphill from Tsomgo Lake. It's a one kilometre long oval shaped glacial lake in East Sikkim. During winter the entire lake remains frozen. You can also find reflections of the surrounding hills on the water which makes it doubly attractive. Tsomgo Lake is a must sightseeing spot to be included in the itinerary of Gangtok for holidaymakers. Flowers and vegetation around the lake are of great visibility sight during summer and autumn.
